2013年にKYOTOGRAPHIEのサテライトとしてスタートしたKG+は、これから活躍が期待される写真家やキュレーターの発掘と支援を目的とした公募型のフォトフェスティバルです。12回目の開催となるKG+2024では、京都市内でを120を超える展覧会が開催されます。ギャラリーはもちろん、京都の伝統的な建物や町家、カフェやショップや屋外なども舞台となり多様な表現で春の京都が賑わいます。 KYOTOGRAPHIE/KG+は写真のお祭りです。祭には様々な人々が集まります。
そこではアーティストや運営・関係者だけではなく、鑑賞者、地域の方々、企業や行政や学生まで、多くの人々がネットワーク的に繋がっていきます。写真作品にリードされ、あらゆる場所や関係に創造が生まれ、フェスティバルは熱気を帯びていきます。さらに、京都を舞台とすることで、街と歴史が交差し、より大きなプラットフォームになっていきます。 寺町京極｜商店街美術館でのKG＋参加作家の作品掲示は、まさに街とアートのコラボレーションです。これは単に、作品が街を行く人の目に触れる機会の創出ということだけではなく、アートを通して、人々の感性や想像力を喚起したいという、商店街とフェスティバルの意志やメッセージでもあります。ますます混迷を極める現代社会において、私たちはアートを通してどのような想像力や活力を持つことができるでしょうか。小さな一歩かもしれないこのコラボレーションには、点と点が繋がり線となり、また別の線と交差し共振し拡がっていく可能性を感じています。 今回、寺町京極商店街のアーケードには、女性アーティストユニット"Jeanne"と、台湾の写真家"蔡昇達（Tsai Sheng-Da）"の2名の作品を展示します。 Jeanneは現代を生きる女性にインタビューを行い、それらを女性である自らの感性と交錯させ、カラフルな世界を創造し写し撮りました。蔡昇達は故郷を失った台湾の原住民Takivatan Bununをテーマに、彼らのルーツを辿る物語を現地取材し、鋭く緻密なドキュメンタリーを制作しました。 社会的なテーマと写真家たちのインスピレーションが交錯し生み出される写真作品が、個々の視点や眼差しを超え、多くの人に伝わり繋がり、出会いや可能性を開くものになることを願っています。

KG+, which started as a satellite event of KYOTOGRAPHIE in 2013, is a photo festival aimed at discovering and supporting emerging photographers and curators who are expected to play active roles in the future. In its 12th edition, KG+2024 will host over 120 exhibitions throughout the city of Kyoto. Galleries, traditional buildings, machiya (townhouses), cafes, shops, and outdoor spaces will serve as venues, bustling with diverse expressions, enlivening spring in Kyoto. KYOTOGRAPHIE/KG+ is a festival of photography where various people gather. It brings together not only artists, organizers, and stakeholders but also spectators, local residents, businesses, governmental bodies, and students, connecting many people in a network. Led by photographic works, creativity emerges in various places and relationships, energizing the festival. Furthermore, by being set in Kyoto, where the city and history intersect, it becomes a larger platform. The exhibition of KG+ participating artists at Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping Street Art Museum is truly a collaboration between the city and art. It is not just about creating opportunities for artworks to be seen by people passing through the streets, but it also represents the will and message of the shopping street and the festival to stimulate people's sensibilities and imagination through art. In today's increasingly complex society, how can we harness imagination and vitality through art? In this collaboration, which may be a small step, I feel the potential for dots to connect, lines to intersect, resonate, and expand. This time, the arcade of Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping Street will exhibit works by two artists: the female artist unit "Jeanne" and Taiwanese photographer "Tsai Sheng-Da". Jeanne conducted interviews with contemporary women, intertwining them with their own sensibilities as women, creating a colorful world and capturing it on film. Tsai Sheng-Da focused on the theme of Takivatan Bunun, indigenous peoples of Taiwan who have lost their homeland, conducting on-site research to trace their roots and producing sharp and meticulous documentaries. I hope that photographic works born from the intersection of social themes and the inspiration of photographers will transcend individual perspectives and gazes, reaching and connecting with many people, opening up encounters and possibilities.
